This is the excerpt from my collaborative performance in NEON Digital Art Festival in Dundee . Matt Collings, a digital composer, and I designed sound using three game controllers which are called 'Gametrak' in MAX/MSP. Gametrak is originally for a golf game for Playstation and it has two red wires which can be pulled out. Sound is designed to be changed depending on the length and the direction of the wires.
We shared the common theme "Steam Punk" for sound and Matt Collings designed a sound of melody box. The more the wires are pulled out it plays the melody box faster, and also he designed different subtle noises for different directions of the wires.
For my piece, I developed my idea from the Gametrak's strong visual appearance which are two red wires. I imagined sounds of scrathed, stretched and pulled, and also this idea moved onto tension, sustained notes, harmony, etc.
Skye Reynolds and Tamsyn Russell developed the chopreography based on their improvisation with the sound system.

"...a thought provoking piece"
I did sound design for the contemporary theatre play & dance piece, ID, by Floating Water.
The story is about a Korean girl looking for her identity in a new and unfamiliar land, the UK, and It was performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008 for the whole August.
The music in the second video is composed by Min Jung Kim, which is a re-make version of Korean traditional song "Arirang".

The audio guide was especially designed for visually impaired audiences and that was why it was not designed for headphones. We thought occupying both ears of someone who is depending on a lot with their hearing ability was not very good idea in a public place so we developed a device like an old telephone which the person could use only one ear. Ken Cockburn Wrote a descriptive poem of the gallery, and Frances Priest designed the ceramic cup after workshops with some participants. Martin Parker and I installed the recored poem into the audio guide device.
The audio guide was launched on 17th August 2011 to public.

Echoes of Space was an immersive, site-specific, audio-visual installation which has been derived directly from elements of the space in which it is located.
The installation was one of projects from my course and realised in the passage under the School of Geosciences at the Old High School Yards of Edinburgh on March 24, 2011.
Echoes of Spaces pursued several themes such as the history of the location, its underlying structure and form, but also the relationships between sound and light, vision and hearing, reality and virtuality and space and time. Essentially, it was all about animating a non-place, making people stop, experience and interact with a place of passage.
To see the whole process of work, go to the Echoes of Space website.
The sound design and digital composition students were invited to compose / design sound for the waiting area in Traverse Theatre as a part of Manipulate - Visual Theatre Festival 2011.
'While the music last' is the piece I made for them. The compositions from students were presented in the three-storey staircase and four speakers were set up vertically in the middle of the stairs so that the sound can go through those four speakers actively.
